2024 Jindo Sea Parting Festival

The 44th Jindo Miracle Sea Parting Festival is coming! Spring is upon us for this wonderful Festival that will include so many things there such as the highlight of the pottery making, talent show, makgeolli fast drinking festival and sea parting walk in the evening, Jindo dog show and much more !
Jindo is a magical place where once a year the sea parts almost like the biblical story of Moses parting the sea. This phenomenon that happens once a year ONLY in Jindo, lasts long enough for people to walk across to an island distance of 1.8 kilometers, usually situated in the middle of the sea. Jindo Sea Parting festival, also called the Jindo Moses Miracle, is one you must see while you are here in Korea. It is one of the 3 biggest festivals in Korea each year, along with the Mud Festival and Ice Fishing Festivals. The opportunity to witness and walk the 40 meter wide path for about 1.8 kilometers is highly recommended.

On early Tuesday morning, we are leaving from Seoul /Suwon /Osan /Mokpo. Join us for an early morning bus ride down to Jindo to Participate in the Festivities. On the way from Seoul we will pick up others from different cities, like the ones mentioned above so don’t feel like you have to miss out.

This year the sea parts ONLY once in the evening and will part the full 1.8 kilometers and we will have a chance to walk a good ways to experience the parting of the sea. It is a good idea to either bring water shoes with you or purchase the thigh high gumboots at the festival. Some parts of the path may stay covered in water and there can be large pools that you may step into as you cross. It is highly recommended to buy boots or wear something to protect your feet because there are sharp sea shells etc in the water.

While walking across you will see a myriad of sea creatures. Feel free to bring a plastic bag to collect any to take back for a snack later in the evening.
The whole festival venue has a variety of booths set up with some delicious local foods so that you can enjoy the flavor of Jeollanam-do province.

At the festival, you can enjoy various activities such as hand-on programs like pottery making, you can watch Jindo dog show or traditional performance at the main stage.
This year we added in some other fun events where you can win some prizes. We will have a talent contest for the Foreigners with prizes given out to the winners (group singing is welcomed also) or whatever talent you have. Please let us know in advance so we can have you signed up.

Our accommodation is an Ondol Korean style rooms with bedding, so if you have a group let us know so we can put you all together (room sizes hold 4 people). You may bring an air mattress for more comfort if you like but after a long day of festivities and night party, you will just end up passing out.

The accommodation to our Youth Hostel is a renovated building, very clean, plenty of bedding, and in a prime location on the beach (Must bring own towels and toiletries) which is literally 1 minute walking distance to and from the Festival and close to the main stage area so you can come and go as you please. The whole building is for Adventure Korea members ONLY !
