Jinhae & Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Bike Tour

Overview

Cherry blossom season is one of the most beautiful times of year in Korea; for just one month, the flowers bloom in abundance, filling Korea’s streets and landscapes with pink and white blossoms. The best places to see cherry blossoms in Korea are down south in Jinhae and Gyeongju. On this trip, we’ll take you to both! The tour will begin in Jinhae and is home to an estimated 340,000 cherry blossom trees and hosts Korea’s biggest Spring Festival of the year! Walk along the famous Gyeonghwa Rail Station and Yeojwacheon Romance Bridge to take in the breathtaking scenery.

We will then go to another breathtaking place in Gyeongju. Nicknamed the “museum without walls,” and regarded by Time magazine as one of the “World’s Greatest Places,” Gyeongju is a site of great historical significance, being the capital of Korea’s ancient kingdom Silla for nearly 1,000 years. Bike or walk through the city’s cherry blossoms and visit important sites like Bunhwangsa Temple, Hwangnyongsa Temple, Seokguram Grotto, Bulguksa Temple, and more. This 3-day trip is taking place during the peak of the cherry-blossom season. It’ll be an unforgettable experience jam-packed with breathtaking views you won’t want to miss!

We are leaving late on Friday evening so we can beat the crowd because the traffic in Jinhae is so bad that it’s very difficult to move and being stuck in traffic is very frustrating.

You can get some sleep on the bus and wake up at sunrise and go check out the beautiful scenery before the crowd trickles in.

  • Walk around Jinhae and see all of the cherry blossoms lining the streets
  • Visit Gyeonghwa Rail Station and Yeojwacheon Romance Bridge at the best possible time in the morning before it gets crowded.
  • Bike and walk around Gyeongju where there are cherry blossoms everywhere. You will have five hours to ride around and explore (We will provide a city map)
  • Gyeongju has been described as the Rome of Korea because of all of the historical sites there. See Bunhwangsa Temple, Hwangnyongsa Temple, Seokguram Grotto, Bulguksa Temple, and more
  • Go to Bomun Lake and bike around the path around the lake. The trail is full of cherry blossoms
  • See Wolji Pond, originally built in 674, at night and see the amazing reflections of the buildings on the still water
  • Go to Daereungwon and see huge burial mounds of the old kings from the Silla Dynasty. You can also go inside the Cheonmachong tomb and see how these mounds were built
  • Visit Cheomseongdae, an astronomical observatory built in the Silla Dynasty. It is the oldest observatory in East Asia and (possibly the world), built under the rule of the first ruling Queen of Korea, Queen Seondeok.
  • Visit the Gyeongju National Museum and see many artifacts from the Silla Dynasty
  • Visit Bomun and experience the Teddy Bear Museum, hot air-balloon rides, ATV riding, and the Amusement park
