*How to get there:
From Seoul, take a bus to Gangneung from Express Bus Terminal (21,000KRW) or Dongseoul Terminal (15,000KRW). From Gangneung Intercity Bus Terminal, take Bus 202 or 303 (6,000KRW) to Anmok Ferry Terminal. Catch the ferry to Ulleungdo Island (54,000KRW one-way or 108,000KRW round-trip). Ferries depart at 8:40am or 9:00am daily.

Ulleungdo Island is known for its peaceful blue waves, mountain scenery, and breathtaking sunsets. It is a beautiful volcanic Island off the east coast of South Korea. The only way to travel to Ulleungdo Island is by ferry. There are three terminals on the mainland of South Korea that will transfer you to the island. The terminals include Gangneung, Mukho, and Pohang. Each ferry ride takes around 3 hours. Dodong is the largest town on Ulleungdo Island and serves as the main hub for tourists. Jeodong is slightly smaller and only 10-15 minutes away by taxi. Seonginbong is one of the island’s main attractions and is an extinct volcano covered in dense green trees. Explore an untouched Korean Village at Nari Basin and see where farming originated on the island. Visit Bongrae Waterfall, Ulleungdo’s primary water source, and drink fresh water at the base of the waterfall. Travel by the Taeha Monorail to the Taeha lighthouse and enjoy the view of Buk-Myeon’s coast. Walk across a large suspension bridge to Gwaneumdo, a tiny neighboring island. Hakpo Village and beach provides the perfect spot to jump into the East sea for a swim. The sculpture garden is one of the island’s hidden gems and is full of unique sculptures. Take a cable car to the Dokdo observatory and witness the waves crashing against the shore. Experience other exciting activities such as snorkeling, cliff jumping, swimming, hiking, fishing and much more. Festivals are popular on Ulleungdo Island such as the Ulleung Seaside Song Festival, Squid Festival, Mountain Ski Festival, and Woosan Culture Festival. The Island has some incredible dishes which include Ulleung beef, mussel rice, wild bibimbap, squid soup, raw fish, and more. Take a break from exploring and relax at one of the many coffee shops and cafes in the area.
