Mount Hallasan

This is one of Jeju’s most memorable landmarks and it sits at the center of the island. It is also known as South Korea’s tallest mountain with a height of 1,950m above sea level. It is home to all kinds of plants and various species of animals. Hallasan Mountain is said to have erupted around 25,000 years ago and more than 360 volcanic cones surrounding it provide a unique view. It continues to amaze travellers from all over and is definitely a majestic site you need to visit. The most popular activity to do at Mt. Hallasan is hiking. There are four trails named Gwaneumsa Trail, Seongpanak Trail, Eorimok Trail, and Yeongsil Trail. 

  • Bus route to Gwaneumsa Trail: From Jeju International Airport, take Bus #181 to Jeju International University, then take Bus #475 to Gwaneumsa Trail Head
  • Bus route to Seongpanak Trail: From Jeju International Airport, take Bus #181 to Seongpanak Trail Head.

Mount Hallasan

This area was used as an airport during the Japanese Imperialism. It is a representation of military facilities of Japanese forces during the time of Japanese Imperialism. It provides a dark tourism experience with its frightening and sad past. 

Udo Island

Udo Island is situated off the eastern coast of Jeju Island and provides visitors with an abundance of natural attractions. There are many activities you can do on the island such as fishing, biking, submarine tours, and cruises. It has a unique shape that is said to resemble a cow lying down. It is full of rich soil, diverse fishing grounds, and a rich culture. 

  • Take Bus #111 or #112 from Jeju Airport to Seongsanpo Harbor (1 hour 10 minutes). Take ferry from Seongsan Port to Udo Port (20 minutes).

Mt. Songak

The view from the peak of Songaksan Mountain is truly scenic. It has 99 small peaks and gives visitors an amazing view of neighboring islands off in the distance. The mountain was used as Japan’s forward operating base during its invasion of China. Ruins of airfields, hangars, and anti-aircraft artillery are scattered throughout. You can hike the mountain to witness the beautiful view, or you can fish along the seashore at the bottom. 

  • Take bus #151 from Jeju Airport to Inseong-ri (1 hour 7 minutes). Take taxi from Inseong-ri to Songaksan (9 minutes).

O’Sulloc tea museum

 The museum opened in 2001 and is located at the entrance of Seogwang Tea Garden and is a place of culture where tradition and modern east and west are harmonized. It is a nature-friendly rest area for visitors. It provides an understanding of the traditional green tea culture of Korea. Indulge in green tea and green-tea inspired food and desserts here. 

  • Take bus #151 from Jeju Airport to O’Sulloc (56 minutes)

Seongeup Folk Village

The entire village preserves the living site of the people of old Jeju.  It has been designated as an Important Folklore Cultural Heritage. People still reside in the village even today. Residents of the village are happy to act as informational guides to assist tourists. The Saw-Leaf Zelkova and Japanese hackberry in the center of the village are interesting sites to see. 

  • Take bus #121 or #122 from Jeju Airport to Seongeup Community Service Center

Seongeup Folk Village

Dongmun Market

This is Jeju’s largest and oldest permanent markets. It serves as a street market, night market, traditional market, and seafood market all combined into one place. The market is full of places to eat and shop and is popular among tourists. 

  • How to get there: Regular bus: #1,2,3,5,6,7 or 17. Express city bus: #10,28, 36, 87, 92, 100 or 500. Get off at Dongmun Traditional Market Bus Stop (20 minutes from Jeju International Airport and 10 minutes from express Terminal)

Teddy Bear Museum

This is the first teddy bear museum in Korea and provides visitors with everything they want to know about teddy bears. The museum contains two galleries, a gift shop, cafe, and bar/restaurant which is a great place to meet up with friends and family. 

  • Take Limousine Bus #600 from Jeju International Airport to Yeomiji Botanical Garden. Walk 5 minutes to the Teddy Bear Museum.

Cheonjeyeon Waterfall

Cheonjeyeon Falls consists of three parts. The water from the first water becomes the second and third waterfalls and eventually flows into the sea. The legend behind the waterfalls is that seven nymphs would slide down from the heavens at night and bathe in the waterfall’s pond. The forest surrounding the area is a warm temperature zone and the water from the falls is refreshing and visitors feel rejuvenated while breathing in the cool air. While you’re there, make sure you also visit Seonimgyo Bridge and Cheonjeru Pavilion. 

  • Take Bus #181 or #182 from Jeju Airport to Jungmun Post Office (49 minutes). Walk to Cheonjeyeon Waterfall.

Jeju Folk Village Museum

Folklore of this area symbolizes the spirit of its people. It is full of living culture that adapts and changes to its times and surroundings as it is passed down from generation to generation. It is a place where Jeju’s folk culture is properly preserved and where its culture can be compared and contrasted to cultures of the rest of the world. Take part in traditional crafts such as wood carving and pottery, participate in traditional games, and stroll along the village to appreciate the preservation of its history and culture. 

  • Take Bus #121 from Jeju Airport to Pyoseon Folk Village (48 minutes). Walk 3 minutes to Jeju Folk Village. 

Seongsan Ilchulbong

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak underwater in the ocean about 5,000 years ago. It is a natural habitat with over 200 types of vegetation and a variety of wild animals. It is one of the best scenic destinations in Korea and provides visitors with breathtaking views of both the island and the sea. It is an ideal place for walking a horse back riding. 

  • Take bus #111 or #112 from Jeju Airport to Seongsan Ilchulbong Entrance.

Manjanggul Cave

This place is one of the finest lava tunnels in the world and is a designated natural monument. It has a variety of interesting structures including 70cm lava stalagmites, lava tube tunnels, lava shelves, lava rafts, and flowstones. Tourists are allowed to venture as far as 1km into the cave. The lava column located at the end of the tourist area is about 7.6m high and known as the highest lava column in the world. 

  • Take bus #101 from Jeju Airport to Gimnyeong Elementary School. Take a taxi from Gimnyeong Elementary School To Manjanggul Cave Entrance (3 minutes). 

Jungmun Saekdal Beach

Jungmun Beach is surrounded by cliffs and sandy beaches. Visitors can enjoy many recreational activities on the beach such as windsurfing, waterskiing, parasailing, swimming, and more. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries chose it as the best beach in Korea due to its conditions, water quality, safety, and beautiful scenery. 

  • Take Airport bus #600 from Jeju Airport to Play K-pop Bus Stop (1 hour, 30 minutes). Walk 13 minutes and arrive at the Beach.
